Dear Camp BFO-SER Volunteer Applicant,

Thank you for your interest in Camp BFO-SER as a volunteer! Camp BFO-SER is a two-day, day camp designed for children and teens (ages 6-17) who have experienced the death of someone significant in their lives. It is a traditional, high-energy, fun-filled camp combined with grief support and education. The Camp will need many volunteers to ensure its success. Volunteers must be 18 years or older and be able to meet the physical demands of the camp experience.

The camp is scheduled for May 30th and 31st, 2025 at l’école élémentaire catholique l’Ange-Gardien in North Lancaster (4831 2nd Line Road, North Lancaster). Camp BFO-SER volunteers and staff will be asked to arrive at the location on May 29th at 5:30 to prepare the activities. You will also be asked to arrive at the location at 7:30am on May 30th and 31st to finalize everything before the participants’ arrival.

There are many opportunities to be a volunteer at Camp BFO-SER. On your application, make sure to include any special interests, hobbies, education, and training that you feel would contribute to Camp BFO-SER. Once the application has been received and reviewed, you will be sent added information on the camp. You will also be required to provide a Criminal Background Check (Vulnerability Sector) dated withing 6 months of the camp date. All applicants will be invited to attend an interview, to help us determine the best applicants for our camp as well as share information and answer any questions you may have.

The time and energy commitment as a Camp BFO-SER volunteer is high. You can count on approximately 6 hours of work prior to Camp which includes an orientation interview, mandatory training, and camp preparations. The camp itself is 18 hours of fun, rigorous and fulfilling work. Training date and time is to be determinded. This event will be held at the Starbright Center in Cornwall. A post-camp Reunion Party will also take place with time and location are to be determined.

Again, thank you for your interest and support in helping Camp BFO-SER make a difference in the lives of grieving children and teens.

Sincerely,

Heidi Poulin and Kassandra Boucher
