Those who can, do. Those who can do more, volunteer
How fortunate we are at Bereaved Families of Ontario-Cornwall to have such caring, dedicated and compassionate volunteers! We have an Office Coordinator who is remunerated for 1092 hours per year (21 hours per week). In 2016, we have recorded 3,347 VOLUNTEER HOURS. This means that our trained Facilitators and volunteers deliver 75% of our Programs and Services. They give generously of their time and accept that their only reward is the transformation that they witness in the clients we serve. Accompanying someone in their grief journey is not easy…we witness so much anguish and sadness. But we accept to sit with our clients through their pain and their confusion.
The following quote illustrates the role that our Facilitators often perform in Grief Support:
“So, if you are too tired to speak, sit next to me, because I, too, am fluent in silence.” (R. Arnold)
A sincere, heartfelt Thank You to all of you who have invested your time, energy and heart to help us realize our Mission:
“We are the bereaved helping the bereaved learn to live with grief.”
Dedicated Hearts
Dedicated hearts like yours
Are not so easy to find.
It takes a special person to be
So generous and kind.
To care so much for your fellow humans
Is a quality all too rare.
Yet you give of your time and talents,
For all in need to share.
So thank you for being a volunteer,
We’re privileged to work with you.
We want you to know how appreciated you are,
Not just today, but the whole year through.
