2017 Bereaved Families’ Memory Tree Lighting Ceremony

Our 21st Memory Tree is officially lit, as of Sunday afternoon, November 26th, 2017. Over 200 people gathered at the Cornwall Square to share in the Lighting Ceremony and to hang their Memory Tag(s) honouring the loved one(s) who will not be with them to celebrate the Holiday Season. Until December 23rd, the tree will stand in quiet remembrance, paying tribute to those who will be sadly missed this year. Our Bereaved Families Facilitators, Volunteers & Board members will take turn to provide a daily presence at the tree and distribute tags, from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on weekdays and 11;00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekends.
Bereaved Families of Ontario-Cornwall thanks the Management & staff of Cornwall Square for hosting our Memory Tree once again this year. We appreciate all their work, patience and attention dedicated to our Tree. Our sincere appreciation also goes out to the Centennial Choir for joining us each year at the Lighting and providing such inspirational music to enhance our ceremony.
We extend our gratitude to Katherine & Alistair MacDonald, owners of Munro & Morris Funeral Homes Ltd., for sponsoring the Memory Tags for this event again this year.
We were truly fortunate to have our local media on hand to report on this event: The Standard Freeholder, the Cornwall Seaway News and Your Tv (Cogeco). Thank you for sharing in our goal of “Public Awareness” for 2018. We are certainly off to a great start!
Finally, our appreciation is extended to all FACILITATORS, BOARD MEMBERS, FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE MEMBERS who attended the event and contributed to the success of the ceremony.
